There is no single best AI girlfriend. The products in this category are built around different things: some around a huge library of community characters, some around generated images, some around voice and long memory, and a few around getting you into a conversation with no sign-up at all. The useful question is which of those you care about. This comparison is sorted that way.

What is actually free

“Free” means three different things here. Some products are free until a message or credit allowance runs out. Some are free for chat but charge tokens for every picture. Some show ads inside the conversation and sell a tier that removes them.

Memory

Every product advertises memory. In practice there are three levels, and it is easy to find out which one you are using: tell the character three specific things, close the tab, and ask about them the next day.

• None. The chat is gone when you close it.
• Same browser. The conversation is still there when you come back on the same device.
• Account memory. A profile follows you from phone to laptop. Kindroid is built around this, and PolyBuzz sells a tier it calls Permanent Memory.

Desire AI is the middle level. Your conversation stays in the same browser, so you can pick up where you left off. There are no accounts, so nothing follows you to another device. If cross-device memory is the thing you want most, pick a product with accounts.

Photos and video

There are two approaches. Generator products such as Candy.ai and DreamGF make a new image when you ask for one, usually for tokens. That gives you control, and it also means the character can look a little different each time and every picture has a price.

Desire AI works the other way. Each character has her own set of photos and short video clips, and she sends them as the conversation develops. A site can call itself uncensored and still break character to refuse or lecture.
